Chad Bracey, DPM
Dr. Chad Bracey joined Upstate Podiatry Group, PA, in August 2019. He was born and raised in Orlando, Florida and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida State University. Dr. Bracey went on to complete his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University. He completed a comprehensive 3-year surgical training at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, NY. Now, as a Carolinian, he enjoys the people, outdoors, and lifestyle of Upstate South Carolina.
Dr. Bracey is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association as well as an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. His professional interest includes diabetic wound care, surgical correction of bunions, hammertoes, fractures, and trauma.Dr. Bracey is ready to provide the highest quality of comprehensive foot care to his patients. His goal is to educate and involve patients in the decision-making process when developing an appropriate treatment plan. Dr.Bracey has privileges at Spartanburg Regional, St. Francis Bon Secours, and Greenville Health System. Outside of the office, he enjoys the outdoors with his fiancé Chelsea, playing pickleball, hiking, and camping.
Terryn Giles, DPM
Dr. Terryn Giles joined Upstate Podiatry Group, PA in August 2020. She was born and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Dr. Giles received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wagner College in NYC where she also captained the Division I soccer team.
Dr. Giles went on to complete her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. She then completed her three-year surgical training program in foot and ankle surgery at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio where she was also appointed chief resident her third year.
Dr. Giles is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association as well as an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is excited to be living in the Upstate and serving the community. Outside of the office she loves spending time with her family, sports of any kind, and exploring the numerous state parks in the area
Katherine Heugel, DPM
Dr. Katherine Heugel joined Upstate Podiatry Group in August 2016. She received her BS in Biology from Juniata College and went on to pursue her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine Degree from Temple University. Dr.Heugel completed her four-year foot and ankled surgical residency at the esteemed University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, serving as a Chief Resident in her fourth year. Having worked with Dr. Long as both a medical student and in residency, Dr.Heugel accepted his invitation to join Upstate Podiatry Group, PA. She is excited to be living and working in the Upstate.
Dr.Heugel also has privileges at Greenville Health System and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. She is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, The American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.
William Long, DPM
Dr. William Long joined Upstate Podiatry Group, PA, in July 2013. He is a native of Spartanburg, SC and a graduate from South Carolina State University, where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree. Dr. Long served eight (8) years of active duty in the United States Coast Guard. While stationed in Charleston, SC, he was hand-selected to supervise the newly formed Maritime Homeland Security Office Department in response to the horrific events of 9/11.
He also holds a Master of Arts Degree from the Citadel Military College and later acquired his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine Degree from Temple University in 2009. Dr. Long completed a four year Foot and ankled surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, before returning to the Upstate. Dr. Long has privileges at Spartanburg Regional, St. Francis Bon Secours, and Greenville Health System, and also practices at the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.
Yusuf Opakunle, DPM
Dr.Opakunle was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and immigrated to the United States in 2008. He received his undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Afterward, he attended medical school at New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed a three- year advanced reconstructive foot and ankle podiatry surgical residency at Emory Decatur Hospital, Atlanta, GA.
Dr.Opakunle is a faculty member of the Podiatry Institute, a non-profit education foundation recognized internationally for its leading role in the advancement of podiatric medicine and surgery. He actively lectures at national meetings and is a contributing author to the Podiatry Institute’s textbook with numerous publications. He has volunteered in multiple marathon races in both Atlanta and New York.
Dr.Opakunle is excited to provide care to patients in Greenville and surrounding areas, and he looks forward to interacting with everyone in the community. His expertise includes all aspects of foot and ankle management, including bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), ligament repair, ankle sprains, flat foot, tendon transfers, and fracture care. He has a keen interest in research and believes patients get the best outcome through individualized patient care and evidence-based medicine. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, and playing soccer (the real football).
George Pattis, DPM
Dr. George Pattis was born in Spartanburg SC, raised primarily in Fords, New Jersey, and Miami, Florida. During his undergraduate years, he attended the University of Florida and the University of South Carolina -Upstate. After receiving his BS degree in Biology, he attended graduate study at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco on scholarship, earning his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. After graduation, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant with the US Public Health Service serving in a health manpower shortage area in Soul City, North Carolina.
After completing his obligation, he left the service with an honorable discharge. Other work experience includes solo private practice in Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Kaiser Permanente Harbor City, CA. In Greenville, he has worked with North Hills Medical Center, VA, and Bon Secours. He was awarded a 15-year service recognition pin with Bon Secours.
Dr.Pattis has over 37 years of experience and is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. His practice is best described as office-based podiatry. In his free time, he enjoys hiking.
